JEE Main 2026 Overview
JEE Main is one of India's most popular engineering entrance examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is the gateway for admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and also serves as the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced and admission to IITs.

JEE Main is a national-level entrance examination for students seeking admission into engineering, architecture, and planning programs across India.
JEE Main scores are accepted by:
- National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
- Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)
- Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs)
- Various private engineering colleges
It also acts as the eligibility test for JEE Advanced, required for admission to IITs.

Eligibility
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed or be appearing in:
- Class 12 or equivalent examination
with the following subjects:
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject
Age Limit
There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main.
Number of Attempts
Candidates can appear for JEE Main for:
- Three consecutive years after passing Class 12.
- Two sessions per year.
